Attacking His Own Vital Points For Skilled Acupuncture And A Deaf Child Recovered For His Treating

--Interview of Zhao Chaoqing, the specialist in treating deaf-muteness, tinnitus and headache

The writer has heard a moved story. There was a woman whose family name is Zhang. She lived in Baihu Village, Yuhuangmiao Town, Tongxu County, Kaifeng City. She was 40 years old that year. One year ago, she quarreled with her husband. Her rude husband slapped her in fury. Unexpectedly, she lost consciousness due to this slap. After she came round, she found there was roaring in her ears. She lost the hearing and language ability. It was too late for her husband to repent. So her husband accompanying her went to see many doctors. Half year past and no hospital gave her recovery. When she almost lost her hope, a relative who works in Zhengzhou city brought her a message that Zhao Chaoqing, the chief doctor in Yikang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Drafting health-checking Center of Zhengzhou People’s Government is famous in treating deaf-muteness. The relative suggested her have a try. Her apologetic husband accompanying her went to Zhengzhou Yikang traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital at once. After complete examination, Mr. Zhao Chaoqing decided to cure her by acupuncture. He attacked her at Yamen with a special acupuncture needle. When he put the needle into the point for about 2 inches, the woman suddenly cried out. She could felt the needle! After adjusting the acupuncture method, the woman could count and called her child’s name. Having acupuncture for another 3 times, the woman regained her hearing and speaking ability. All the people around her were amazed at it. This miracle went around the village. While to Mr. Zhao Chaoqing, the doctor, it was very common. He said, “In these years, I have cured countless patients suffered from deaf-muteness and deafness. I also have realized my dream when I released their sufferings. It’s my wish to cure patients with my medical technology.”

Mr. Zhao Chaoqing was born on Dec., 1954 in a peasant’s family in Tongxu County. He was very intelligent and studied very hard. He hoped to be a useful person. In 1964, a disease determined his future. In that autumn, he suffered from pleurisy due to his poor health. He had a continuous high fever and could not bear the sufferings. Sometimes, he was even unconscious. He could not forget in his life the feeling of the pain. It seemed that he was cut. Little Chaoqing had thought he could not recover again. He was upset and waited to die. But in the critical time, he met a good doctor in Kaifeng City. After being treated for a month, he recovered completely and went back home. But this determined his future. He began to cherish a feeling of great reverence for doctor. What a holy and noble job! To be a doctor can relieve patients’ sufferings and save people’s life and soul. The wish to be a doctor and a famous doctor took root in his mind. From then on, he began to prepare for his dream. Whenever he saw or heard good prescriptions and folk recipes, he wrote them down and put them in order. Thus, he had been a health worker in his village before he joined the army at the age of 16. When he joined the army in 1970, he became a health worker in his troop for his basic medical technology. From then on, Mr. Zhao Chaoqing studied harder and especially, he was interested in acupuncture, the legacy of ancient medical science. Acupuncture therapy has special effect on many diseases. For example, to the deaf-mute patients, it will not have good effects by only taking medicine. While supporting by acupuncture, it will have an unexpected effect. As a health worker in his troop, he was famous for his skills and common people around the troop also came for their illness. Once upon a time, Wang Dajun, a deaf-mute child in a small village in Minqin County, Gansu Province, accompanied by his mother, visited Mr. Zhao for his illness. At that time, the opinion of medical circles on deaf-muteness was no needs to diagnose and treat them. Mr. Zhao studied acupuncture hard and he found with his experience that doctors always attacked the point deeply in the ear surroundings while in Yame point, attack was seldom made and even made, the attack was very slight. So the patient was no respond for the attack. He thought Yamen is a key point in curing dumb. If it was because the slight attacking or wrong direction that caused the failed effect. Mr. Zhao looked over many materials on acupuncture for his thought. The materials showed that it must be very careful for the attacking on Yamen and deep attacking was forbidden. But Mr. Zhao thought it a limitation caused by history and science development. In 80s, modern medical science was very advanced and the science should be developed. So he let his colleague stay beside him and attacked his own Yamen with the needle. All the people were worried about him because deep attacking on the point would have the risk of life. When the needle was put into about 2 inches, he felt dizzy and fell unconsciously on the bed. His colleague pulled out the needle immediately. After he came round, he felt his tongue was numb. But in order to have the firsthand information, he went on attacking on his own Yamen. He attacked three times five days later and he got strong feeling of the needle. Mr. Zhao Chaoqing broke the limitations of generations and gained the valuable experience of Yamen attacking. In the following period, he treated the deaf-mute child, Wang Dajun with acupuncture of attacking Yamen point. When the needle was put into about 2 inches, the child cried out unexpectedly. After acupuncture for another 3 times, the child regained the ability of listening and speaking. This success encouraged Mr. Zhao greatly and it was the first step for him in treatment of deaf-muteness. And also for this success, the troop rewarded him the Merit Citation Class III and sent him to have a further study in military medical university for 4 years. Mr. Zhao was in his element in the university and his medical technology and skills were improved greatly. He got another solid step for realizing his dream due to the changing from a health worker to a medical officer. After that, he was trained for another professional internal medicine for medical officers and he became famous in the troop. Meanwhile, in order to give his commendation for his contributions, the higher levels rewarded him and promoted him as the chief surgeon, the chief physician, leader of a scientific researching department, the leader of hospital. He is a physician-in-charge with the 9th grade of professional technology (vice regimental class). He was ranked the major in 1988 and lieutenant colonel in 1992. For his honors, he was ranked as advanced person in learning from Lei Feng and the six company for the achievements gained by the units in his charge. In the operation competition held by medical system in divisional class, he gained the first. He has been rewarded for 13 times by the regiment and the division headquarters and Merit Citation Class III for 4 times.

In 1998, Mr. Zhao Chaoqing left from the army and worked in Yikang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Drafting health-checking Center of Zhengzhou People’s Government. As chief surgeon, he worked very hard. The department of deaf-mute, tinnitus and headache charged by him is very famous in Zhengzhou City, the Capital of Henan Province. Many people come here for treating of their de8, Mr.af-mute, tinnitus and intractable headache. He also has a new therapy called Five in One, that is the treating of nerves, acupuncture, umbilical, diet and threading (including threading and acupoint drug-embedding). It is his pleasure to treat patients with his Five in One therapy and his experience. As he says, “ It is my wish to make the patients recover.”
